I bought some Walnut.
Everything else is in my head. I’m planning (hoping) to turn the pile of walnut into a book stand. I want it to hold a book open at 60 degrees. I also would like to incorporate a bit of sheet metal into the design. It would be my preference to laminate the metal to MDF, but I shall yield to the rules and either use the metal as a panel in a frame & panel or I’ll laminate it to some eco plywood. I had planned to support the book holding surface with a simple skirt, though I’m now thinking, maybe an arm of some sort. Time will tell. Now, off to sketch.

As I’m assuming many of us are, I’m cutting it very close with finishing my build on time. As of this writing I have finished the assembly and the pre-finishing prep. All that remains is to apply multiple coats of shellac as a finish.
It was my plan to apply the finish tonight & tomorrow morning.
